Destin

Going back a bit...
We spent our Christmas for 2009 in Destin, Florida with the whole family!
We rented a great big beach house and had a blast!
Jenni hired a photographer and here are some of the pictures that she took...

The Week Of The Living nightmare!

The nightmare began on a regular boring MONDAY.
Then the doorbell rang!Oh NO! They're here!! Run for your life! It's the GRAND KIDS!!!

Just kidding!
Maggie and Tim brought a few friends with them - Ben, Carlie, and Jackson, aka Justin.
(#2 and #4 in the above picture are mine)

The fun really began, on Tuesday. We loaded both of our cars with everything beachy that you can think of, and I mean everything! I even took my dog Gus.
We arrived at the hotel -all went fine till the boys room turned on the air conditioner. Nothing, no air! Then they had to move to another room.
The next morning the girls turned on the AC, nothing again! so we weren't going to move, (we already had our stuff spread all over the place), so we call the front desk, they sent up a repairman, he fixed it right then and there - with us still trying to get ready - and eating breakfast! He dragged in another AC and installed it then. So we had to wait for about an hour.
Then we find when we came back to the motel that night, that no one cleaned our room! No clean towels- no nothing!

However, we did have fun on the beach. Some adult male, if you can call him that, ogled Maggie the whole time we were there. I nearly killed him! Not MY maggie!
We had carlie's birthday party on the beach too. Since it was on St.Pat's day Jenni had green wigs, giant bow ties, flashing pins , capes, hats, suspenders, a cupcake with candles in it. We sang happy b day to her. all the while every one was watching us. For a little while there, I thought we would be thrown off the beach! (And no, we only had water to drink!)

My sweet Gus!

The kids buried each other, made sand castles and went swimming in the icy waters. Of course Jenni took a lot of pics. I was warm when we got to the beach but by the time we left , the wind really kicked up and started to get pretty cold.
The kids went back to the pool and played in the hot tub for a long time.

Then the next day we went home because it was grandpa's birthday. We had a party for him too but didn't work out very well. It was a bomb!!

The kids left the next day. Then clean up time! Sheets, towels and floors- I had a great time washing and cleaning! But I am glad I am spoiled. I called the girls that help me clean . How nice is that?

That's about all. But the bottom to this story is that I had a great time!!!!! Wouldn't have missed it for the world!

My Nauvoo trip!

My granddaughter Maggie went on a youth church trip to Nauvoo, Illinois to visit church history sights. Jenni and I decided to follow along and then stay a while after for some "girl time"! Here is some of what we've done so far:

The Beautiful Nauvoo Temple

Me and Gus at David's Chamber. The prophet Joseph Smith's son used this spot, under the small waterfall, to go for quiet time to do his painting.

Trying to read in the evening, when Maggie put the top of her pudding cup on my face...
...then licked it off!

Gus standing on the banks of the MIGHTY MISSISSIP!

The city sure would be in trouble if I wasn't here to hold this thing up!

Me and Maggie ready to board the helicopter!

Me, touring the St. Louis skies!

Me and the pilot!

Jenni and I went to the temple for a little while on Friday. We enjoyed feeling the spirit inside.

New addition!

This is our new baby...Gus! He is an 8 week old Yorkie. He weighs 2 pounds! He is such a sweet, mild mannered little boy. Baby Jane isn't so sure of him, but she hasn't tried to kill him - that's a good start!

Welcome!

Welcome to our new blog! I have decided that it was about time to join the world of blogging - and I have promised to make every effort to blog about something at least once a week! We will see how that goes, I make no guarantees! I am on vacation, so I will certainly have something to post soon...stay tuned!
